No wobbly windows. I'm not sure about the compiz version at the time of this
occurence - anyway with the same compiz effects now but with firefox 3 beta 5
everything is just fine in fullscreen mode. Thanks anyway.

Are you using wobbly windows? This would be the most obvious cause. If its not,
then it'd probably be a good idea to see what *would* happen without Compiz.
Also, what version of Compiz are you using?
