The global view is that Debian removed pcre3 at the beginning of February. With the removal bugs I filed, Ubuntu can remove everything using pcre3 except for nux which is used by Unity (and the Ubuntu Unity desktop flavor). https://ubuntu-archive-team.ubuntu.com/transitions/html/pcre3-to- pcre2.h

If the goal is the removal of pcre3, I'd much rather have a global view of the entire ecosystem and remove all of them at once. If I remove this single package right now the net result is removing a feature from Ubuntu, without any insurance that the root issue will be addressed. -- You received
