There has been no activity on this bug so I am guessing its not an
important or prevelant issue. Does anyone know what could be happening
in my particular situation? Why does the system get stuck in loading
hardware drivers on a lenovo x61?

Its happening at "loading hardware drivers" don't know why. I see a
call to /sbin/udevadm.
