I have built a core24 snap using the packages in noble ubuntu-proposed,
the text is displayed as expected. When building with ubuntu-proposed
not enabled, the text is not displayed.

Well, the bug happens only on UC24, this code path is not exercised on
classic Ubuntu. I can check that in Oracular/Noble nothing breaks.
