I can confirm that on my ubuntu 8.10 up-to-date the size of the save as
windows always revert to a too small size. Any size change is forgotten.
It seems to appen with all the gtk applications (epiphany, evolution...)

The window size is not kept..
But there is no more horizontal scrolling.
And THIS was the main problem.
So it's fine :)
