I've seen this happen a few times on a different server now (same
tmux/byobu/Ubuntu versions).
Not sure if this is related, but I've also noticed tmux segfault on both
servers:

I haven't done much to customize byobu/tmux on this server, only changed
some of the status line indicators (through byobu's config, not tmux). I
have byobu configured to start at login, which I believe it accomplishes
by adding this line to the bottom of my .profile:
_byobu_sourced=1 . /usr/bin/b
