The previous output of xorglog.txt and "xinput list" are from my local
vm, which in UTM(QEMU), which I can't edit the settings,

Checked in our u2404 x64 x11 vm in our CI, there is no tablet device.

I haven't been able to get it in the state which I remember from the
past, where you had to hit 'ctrl_l + alt_l" to unlock the input.. it's
always the same as default, where the "mouse" device says it's in
relative mode

Try configuring the VM to not emulate a tablet. This will mean you can
no longer seamlessly move the cursor into and out of the VM but instead
will need to capture the pointer in the VM window.

I would expect it to fail in some VMs because they usually emulate
tablets for input. So the guest has no control over the host cursor
position in that case.
Can anyone reproduce it without a VM?

Tried on a real Ubuntu 24.04.1 laptop, the xlib example code with
XWarpPointer works. Perhaps it's only an issue in vm.
