The Debian issue is that https://bugs.debian.org/1064089 was reported
indicating that gutenprint should be part of the time_t transition, but
no patch was attached nor was an upload made to Experimental.
Using the logic from comment 5 here, we can ignore this issue on the
Debian side if we wait un

I also added a reminder Jira card for myself to re-enable 32-bit builds
for gutenprint once Debian 13 is released since they will be past the
time_t transition then. We should be able to get gutenprint back on
armhf in time for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, assuming armhf is still around for
us then.

Please take care in that case that the reverse-recommend on the package
all drop their references, so that the package is removed on upgrade on
armhf and that users don't end up with abandoned old versions of
gutenprint on their systems.

The Kubuntu/Lubuntu/Ubuntu MATE recommends will go away as soon as we
regenerate the metapackages after gutenprint is removed again on armhf.

No Ubuntu Desktop flavor supports armhf. The metapackages are only built
on armhf because it usually doesn't really hurt for them to be built
there.

That's a good point. It seems the only thing to do in that case is to
drop the dependency on architecture-is-64-bit .

Note however that gutenprint shipped already in noble on armhf, rebuilt
with 64-bit time_t. We should not introduce a library transition
between noble and oracular, for an ABI transition that happened between
jammy and noble.

I tried building it too on armhf and encountered no issue.
Looking at my analysis results, libgutenprint-dev did not build and was
therefore not analyzed and libgutenprintui2-dev did not have an ABI
incompatibility.
This means that the library should go through the t64 transition.

There is no actual reason to exclude Gutenprint from 32-bit systems. The
exclusion on Debian is most probably lack of patience of the maintainer.
The Snap package continues to build on armhf, there seems to be no
upstream change having made this package 64-bit only.
We only need to remove any art
