Yeah, this is painful. Wayland by default but no usable drivers readily
available. I got hit by this.

The build failure of nvidia-dkms-470 470.256.02-0ubuntu0.24.04.1 in
Ubuntu 24.10 oracular is because of GCC 14, not the kernel. Building for
noble kernel 6.8.0-48.48 also failed in oracular for this reason. After
applying the 3 patches from

I don't think it's right to drop support for hardware when the driver is
EOL upstream. Nouveau never worked properly with my GK208B [GeForce GT
710] and the proprietary driver is the only usable option.
Furthermore, this was not communicated properly when I upgraded using
do-release-upgrade. It si
I didn't know EOL was coming this soon, but it's still useful to fix 470
support as we have now. Because it allows us to default to Wayland for
all (reasonable/expected) driver versions in the gdm3 udev rules. And it
allows you to use MUTTER_DEBUG_FORCE_EGL_STREAM=1 as a fallback even on
newer driv
@Daniel I know you've been working to make sure that the 470 driver
still works well in mutter despite knowing it would be EOL by now,
considering that it enables hardware that the newer drivers dropped.
