Hi, I got very similar issues in my laptop with an external monitor. It did make it less likely to hit the issue after I set MUTTER_DEBUG_FORCE_KMS_MODE=simple in /etc/environment. Today it reproduced. The chromium on the external monitor freeze, and also in the laptop monitor the gnome freeze as

Maybe ignore the Chrome messages for now. If it was consuming too many resources then you would have other issues. And looking at the Chrome messages again, that seems more like a logic error or graphics driver limitation than any resource exhaustion. Certainly "MUTTER_DEBUG_FORCE_KMS_MODE=simple"
