I don't think we will push the new automake to backports, but it will be
included in Ubuntu 25.04 which will be released in April.

Yes, Ubuntu's automatic sync doesn't want to sync the new source package
because the binary package 'automake' has Ubuntu-specific changes.

Normally, packages would be synced from Debian Unstabled to the Ubuntu
development release. Though it doesn't seem to have been picked up
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/automake-1.17)
I don't know if there is some special case regarding this package,
because it looks like the source package
Since 2025-01-27 Debian has Automake 1.17 in unstable.
