Hello Tormod, or anyone else affected,
Accepted python-pyalsa into noble-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-
pyalsa/1.2.7-1ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.
Please help us by testing this new package.
Thanks, Vladimir!

Hi,
I have added Author: field in the patch and ran quilt refresh.
The issue is fixed with new upstream release.
I have tested the fix and the core dump no longer occurs.
Best Regards,
Vladimir.

I am not awaiting your approval but to see 1.2.12 landing in Ubuntu
24.10. Thanks for clarifying about git-ubuntu and the SRU team.

You don't need my approval to subscribe ubuntu-sponsors, so please go
ahead and do that if you think this bug is probably ready for
sponsorship.
There is no need to also try to do a git-ubuntu merge request.
There is no need to subscribe ubuntu-sru. There is a separate queue they
access directly

I was not able to reproduce the other issue, so I made an SRU only

Awaiting your sync before subscribing ubuntu-sponsors or SRU team.
I tried also make a LP git merge request for the SRU, but it so

not

I recommend only cherry-picking the fix you need here since that's more
likely to be approved by the SRU Team quicker.
However, you could also try including the other change if you prepare
Impact/Test Case/Regression Potential for it also.

Maybe this applies? "it is also acceptable to upload new microreleases
with many bug fixes without individual Launchpad bugs for each of them".
There is only one other change in 1.2.12, "hcontrol, mixer: improve
callback GIL state handling", fixing https://github.com/alsa-

Generally, you would need to only cherry-pick the specific fix for an
SRU. You are welcome to prepare an SRU for this issue. See

Thanks Jeremy. Is it possible to SRU 1.2.12 into Ubuntu 24.04, or can
only fixes like this be cherry-picked?

The attachment "Add upstream commit cb75f5c" seems to be a debdiff. The
ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they
can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. If the attachment isn't a
patch, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the
"patch" tag
