I can confirm that the bug is fixed in Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS (i386). I
successfully resume from suspend and got the same IP address while using

I have this problem as well after rebooting my system (Hardy) my eth
card is renamed and got a new mac adress. I am working with a static IP
Adress. The problem doesn´t exist in Gutsy, so I´m not sure if it´s
right to be reported here...

Since /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules is generated by
/lib/udev/write_net_rules tool, I am assigning this to udev package as
it is more probable cause of this issue (if not, it may be kernel
related).

I have the same problem, the mac of my ethernet card are switching between
00:1B:FC:AB:CA:A6 and a6:ca:ab:fc:1b:00 every time I suspend my system. I made
a workarround defining both macs for eth0. editing the file:
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
You should see something like this:
