UPDATE:
I finally decided against re-downloading >15GB of enails.
I've since deployed Thunderbird via tarball and all is well. Will try
this again in a few months/years...

I too am affected by this bug and I'm migrating later than all these
other 4 months since the last post. Yet, I'm in this predicament.
snap info thunderbird shows I'm running:

Title:
Thunderbird profile not migrated
Thanks for your answer, Sebastien. I think you nailed it.
There was not enough free space to copy the profile and the profile was not
copied.
I had tried to softlink my old profile from .thunderbird info
snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird but that did not work, as I described, and
it still doe
@Pablo,
could you report a new bug and include what is printed on stdout on
first start of the thunderbird snap?
basically remove ~/snap/thunderbird, start thunderbird and see what is
printed
One potential reason could be that you don't have enough free space in
your userdir to copy the profile
Hello:
Thunderbird still does not migrate my profile. My system works fine after
```
apt remove thunderbird
snap remove thunderbird
dpkg -i ~/software/thunderbird_115.9.0+build1-0ubuntu0.22.04.1_amd64.deb
```
but thunderbird gets updated every day (unattended-upgrades?, snap refresh?)

@Sebastien: Your new push fixed the issue. After the new snap was
installed, I started Thunderbird and it immediately imported the
original profile and started to download the emails from all IMAP
accounts. The locally cached mail folders didn't get copied.
So far things seem to be working but I d
I've confirmed that the new revision fixes the issue and promoted to
stable now. If you updated and didn't get your profile migrate you can
stop thunderbird, move ~/snap/thunderbird away and start thunderbird
again, it will retry the import

@Heinrich: Exactly ONE.
The snapped profile manager doesn't see the profile in the proper place
~/.thunderbird
Snap is causing nothing but trouble. DEB had been working fine since its
inception.

The issue there is that the stable snap is missing a change which is in
the beta channel to allow read access to ~/.thunderbird (snap blocks
access to hidden directories by default).
I've pushed a fix to the vcs now

@neuffer:
How many profiles are in your .thunderbird/profiles.ini?
If you have multiple profiles, you can use
/snap/bin/thunderbird --ProfileManager
to choose one of them.
Best regards

Could you check your profile comes from a compatible thunderbird version
(but if it doesn't it should tell you on first start with a dialog) and
report your problem upstream? If thunderbird fails to use a valid
profile copied manually the

That was my very first test.
Unfortunately it does NOT work for me as described before
and shown in
Close Thunderbird.
Remove the new, empty profile.
rm -r ~/snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird

The same error reoccurred on an arm64 system.
None of two profiles was copied to ~/snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird/.
Instead a new one was created.
