I am having the same problem with the title bar turning pink with
scrambled text.
I'm running Hardy 8.04
Kernel: 2.6.24-16-generic
Compiz turned on with default settings. Version 0.7.4

Same thing is happening to me - I'm running Hardy w/ nvidia (Visual
Effects set to "Normal"). This is very annoying!

I concur this bug and it is driving me nuts.
My video card is a nVidia Corporation G71 [GeForce 7300 GS] (rev a1)
Other symptoms include terminal windows going completely opaque as well
as the pink title bar

I've noticed this as well, with compiz turned on (the default if available).
I mostly use nvidia, so I'm not sure if it's related to the driver or not
I have seen this using a [GeForce 7600 GS] and 'nvidia' from nvidia-
glx-new, on an i386 gutsy system
