Would it be possible to also backport this for 22.04 please? It's still
in the standard support window and that's where the bug was originally
reported from.

Indeed, if the bug can be reproduced with any image flashing tool, this
makes it more severe. I assume we made this bug worse when we added the
ability to install a recovery partition (we stopped filtering out
installation medias).
Hopefully, this patch should address the issue.
