This should be fixed in 0.8 and marking as such.
gutsy=7.10 will not get the newest version 0.8 but i may add it to my PPA but

/.mozilla dir or even just moving the sunbird profile itself in
/.mozilla.

The package I downloaded from the Sunbird website wasn't a deb, but a
tar.bz2 file, that merely needed to be extracted to use. I made a
mistake by calling it a deb in my original post.
Also, the only thing I remember doing to uninstall it was to delete the
directory.
