I also observed this in Hardy Alpha and Beta. I do seem to recall it
proceeding with the upgrade without prompting, as well.

pauls makes a good point; I also have noticed that it proceeds with the
upgrade without asking permission though I failed to make note of that
(even though it's the most important part of this bug...)

I've been having this problem since upgrading to hardy alpha about a
month ago. Some additional observations:
- it happens in any terminal (konsole, gnome-terminal, xfce-terminal)
- sometimes, when it scrolls, it fails to stop and prompt on whether to
proceed with the upgrade .. it just goes ahe
