It's my problem too.
The default mirror ubiquity chooses (tw.archive.ubuntu.com) is NOT the
fastest mirror in Taiwan(which is free.nchc.org.tw AFAICS), pull
packages from defaults certainly takes more time to install and I'm
forced to disable network connection to make it more quickly.

This is quite important.
Doing several Ubuntu installs can be a pain when there is *already* a
local mirror that's supposed to handle these sort of requests.

8.04 should be much better in terms of delays. I agree that there is
