Neither all_generic_ide nor acpi=off allowed to boot into LiveCD
environment. With acpi=off, the clocksource issue goes away, but the
boot process still fails and busybox loads from initramfs. Between the
last line of output from the boot process and the time busybox comes up,

clock source - this could be a hardware issue.

Leann -- Sure thing. I stand corrected, the video driver has nothing to
do with it. See screenshots attached. My apologies for the quality, but
they are still readable. Please let me know if you require additional
info. Incidentally, I was able to install Alpha 6 successfully using
the alternat
Care to boot without the 'quite' and 'splash' boot options and then take
a digital picture of your screen when you see the hang. Can you then
attach that photo to this bug report. Hopefully there will be some
