I had the same problem.
I have a Thinkpad T60p and I have some problem with video driver so I was
forced to switch off the laptop without a shutdown.
After that I started experiencing troubles with firefox.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall it many times without solving the problem.

I have this problem as well. Page addresses do not display in the
address bar, past Google queries do not show up in the search box,
sessions are not maintained, and cookies are not saved. The only
adjustment I have made to the about:config are to increase the scrolling
size from 3 to 6.
