Hi,
I have to confirme this bug, too. Got a brand new Dell M1330 and sounds
works really fine with the pre-installed ubuntu 7.10 but not with Hardy
RC Live-CD that I'm using right now.
I uploaded the attachments that Udrea asked for. File includes
uname-a.log, lspci-vvnn.log and the "dpkg -s linu
I think the developers should be a little more forthcoming
about sound issues in Hardy and not drag their feet only
asking for more information. For example, it was well
documented that certain updates of Hardy Alpha did not
recognize sound cards and then this was fixed in the
next update. So som

I had the same problem after upgrading my Dell XPS m1330 from Gutsy to
Hardy pre-Beta from today.
The solution was easy:
For some reason the front speaker were muted after the upgrade. They were not
before the upgrade. I had to unmute it.
Note:
I also did a
sudo apt-get --purge remove linux-sou
Sorry, my sound is not here.
I have an Dell XPS M1330
Upgraded daily from January to now, and no sound during the whole time.

I happen to have the same laptop running an up to date version of Hardy Alpha
5, 64-bit.
(I can test 32-bit too, if you wish. Just let me know and I'll throw in a
32-bit Desktop-CD.)
