If you have any unexplained crash that doesn't leave a crash file then
please:
1. When the crash occurs, wait 10 seconds and then reboot.
2. Run:
journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt
3. Attach the resulting text file here.

Just happened again. Disconnecting external monitors lead to crash in
which after log in the session was lost. I do not see a related crash in
/var/crash/... nor anything at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID

So far so good, will keep an eye and report back in case I experience a
bad crash again.
I do sometimes get logged out after messing with monitors still but
after log in all applications are still there. Don't know if this is
expected, I'd say not, but as the work is not lost it does not seem

Please check to see if the problem still occurs when the standard Ubuntu
extensions are enabled.

gnome shell crashes after disconnecting
This one seems not to happen any more after removing the said extensions
(system-monitor-next...) but I also disabled dash and icon desktop.
I am still experiencing another issue related to monitors but it is
probably separate so will follow in another report.
