I think this also happens on the first live session screen. That's a
gnome-shell process running as user ubuntu (999). It's a Xorg session
rather than Wayland, also supported by the information in comment #2.

Thanks for the bug report.
I too have noticed gnome-shell (from gdm's login screen) leaving crash
files since the upgrade to 41. I was hoping we fixed all these in
