I'm adding a screen shot of the problem as I see it on a straight Ubuntu
8.04 Live system (from an Alpha 5 iso image burned to an actual piece of
media and booted on actual hardware, not a virtual box) and a screen
shot of the "aboout" Evolution after the configuration was complete.

Here is the about screen image from the running Evolution package after
configuration completed. It shows the version as 2.21.91. This is on
x86 hardware/x86 desktop ISO image, not x64, not SPARC, etc...

as you can see in the screenshot, i get the correct alphabetical order,
with the exception of UTC which is the first item listed, may you
provide a screenshot showing us the order you get, also, although i
don't think it really matters, you could include the locale you're
using, i test with es_CL a
I have downloaded/run in a VM the latest Ubuntu 8.04 build candidate,
Alpha-5 from 22 Feb., 2008 and the problem remains.
The first few entries appear to be alphabetical, but if you review the
first 15 or 20 entries you'll see they are not.
I see entries like this:
UTC
Europe/Andorra
Asia/Dubai

Could you please check with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Hardy Heron, I see the timezones already ordered
alphabetically with the exception of UTC which is the first one in the list.
