Since Psi uses only the QT stuff for the notification icon, this is
probably a bug in QT and so a duplicate of bug 291529, which should be
fixed by now in Jaunty. If the issue exists there anyway, please reope

Addendum: Intrepid with all updates as of last week: It still happens from time
to time.
I can't recognize a pattern, though.
Perhaps it has to do with QT's handling of transparency vs. the nVidia drivers,
as goto mentioned before?

This seems to happen wlth any icons in the notification area. I'm using
opera, notecase, and skype. It's as if though the icons start to overlap
over time. Clicking on an icon, forcing the notifcation area to refresh.

I can second that (hardy/x86_64 as of 2008-05-08).
The corruption takes place after a certain amount of time.
It looks like the buffer for translucency of the icon fetches the background
bitmap from a wrong mem address (my uneducated guess)...
