FYI with the new KDE4.2 version new icons show up in front of the
QuickSearch bar, and even Settings->Configure KMail->Appearance->Message
List option is now gone.

Richard I've updated the Subject of this bug to reflect it true nature.
The search bar is available, but not the menu shortcut to turn it in/visible as
it used to be on older versions.
Both 3.x and 4.x have this behaviour.
