wont let me edit my follow up posts, as such, wont be
maintaining/updating this thread, as its frustrating. in short samba
still not working properly.
still have not successfully installed/setup linux mint after several
attempts, and to note.
linux mint cinnamon does not allow duplex sound though
FYI
Adding the preconfigured firewall rule for samba, direction both,
category all, subcategory all, does not allow network to work correctly,
even after rebooting with the firewall on. this is surely an issue.

Solved.
I reinstalled the whole system exactly the same, then created a
timeslide this time, to then update the kernal..and network was, fine
and working as expected.
The previous install was a fresh install, I had just started using the
linux mint firewall,in the same session, before installing

I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling samba and samba-complete,
then checking the config files.
I tried resetting the router.
Windows machine is having no issues with its own share or share of
router.
My only option to fix this currently is to reinstall the whole system,
