Additionally, I ask anyone (including Rgpublic), to check the current
situation. Is the size mismatch still present if one installs from the
repository. I cannot check anymore as I have upgraded to Ubuntu Hardy
(development).

I wonder why no one else is bothering about this.
I could not install Amarok under Gutsy at all due to this no matter what I
tried.
By far the easiest way I found to solve this is though:
Download both files with "Size mismatch" manually and install them with "dpkg
-i".

I should add that the KDE 4 Repository is not authenticated, that is not
signed by GPG.

I was able to successfully install Amarok 1.4.8-0ubuntu1~gutsy1 by
temporarily disabling gutsy-backports and adding the Kubuntu Members -
KDE 4 Repository- https://edge.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-members-
kde4/+archive
