sup guys i actually registered just to tell you this
i had the exact same problem, i'm on ubuntu 8.04 and every time i pressed play
amarok would freeze anywho
you know that GRUB thing that loads first when you turn on the computer well i
basically just went on a different one
not recovery mode

It also happens on Hardy heron.
I am on Ubuntu Hardy heron 8.04 and until today Amarok was working well,
but then suddenly it started to fail, the pc got so slow and then
suddenly the screen was frozen, like blocked, and since that it's been
happening everytime I open Amarok, any idea how to fix t
I recently upgraded to hardy and the problem has gone. So this is
probably caused by unsupported down- and upgrading of amarok and
therefore a database inconsistency or something. (I just copied the
music to the new installation and created a complete new amarok-
database)
