what would be useful would be a way to trigger the issue, could you try
a desktop CD and see if you get the same issue? could you also try a
stock user on your installation? that's likely something specific to
your setup since there is no other bugs about this issue

I have been using Hardy Alpha 6 and have not (as yet) updated to the
full 8.04 release, which may be aggravating matters.
However, I have not changed anything out of the ordinary, nor altered
the startup sequence or programs called.
The only things other than the default install that are enabled
thank you for your bug report. do you get the issue on hardy? could you
describe easy steps to trigger the bug?

I also have this problem. The worst are those I added by "Add this to
notification area" - fastest are those added by the applet "Add to Panel"
choice.

This error has also occurred on my Gutsy gibbon install, after creating
a new user, the icons that should appear in the Notification Area take a
long time to load; This leads me to think that it is not the Wireless
drivers that are causing the problem, as I am using Ethernet with
forcedeth drivers

I am experiencing the same problem on Gutsy Gibbon, fusion-icon takes a
while and usually kicks in when the network appears.
