I decided to take it all apart to test and found out I opened the ticket with
"DisplayPort"
However I meant to say "displaylink" and I was using an HDMI cable...

I changed from wayland to xorg FWIW but same flicker. slightly different
error message.

So.. what exactly is this "evdi" that you were mentioning?
I just returned the laptop from a few hours unattended (did not suspend, just
lock / walk away) and was greeted by flickering, this time only a part of the
screen but all the time.
the flicker that I usually see is short, t
very little events as of now.. yesterday evening I had them in 5-10 minute
intervals.
I was pushing a lot of data via webdav from FTP (datacenter) via my laptop to
my NAS

I tried to correlate before.. what happens all the time (why I opened
this bug) is the "system is too slow" message. That one correlates. I
see it every time it happens.
