The suggestion to set the kernel parameter
"psmouse.synaptics_intertouch=1" worked!
Specifically, what I did was:
– add "psmouse.synaptics_intertouch=1" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in
/etc/default/grub
– sudo update-grub
– reboot
