Same problem using fully updated ubuntu 8.04. Using a workaround from here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=621864) fixed it for me. $ sudo sed -i 's/XINERAMA/FAKEEXTN/g' /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.04/jre/lib/i386/xawt/libmawt.so (I changed 1.6.0.03 to 1.6.0.04 because that is the ver
