I used VNC in connection with a project that is now over, so I have no way to
check, unfortunately.

I don't know if this is the client sending the wrong characters or the server
that's unable to receieve them.
I'm not 100% sure that this is the fault of tightvnc, it could also be the vnc
server that's running on the Mac.
