No, I didn't change anything to /etc/apt/sources.list, until I commented
out the first line (deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 20.04 LTS _Focal Fossa_ - Beta
amd64 (20200402)]/ focal main restricted).

somewhere down the line (could be weeks/months) I want to get Netflix to
work in my browser?? Even though there is a perfectly good version of
libavcodec-extra in the online repos? Are you serious?

I fixed it by commenting out the first line of /etc/apt/sources.list*:
#deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 20.04 LTS _Focal Fossa_ - Beta amd64 (20200402)]/
focal main restricted
This fixes the apt bug and Netflix now also works in Firefox!
* As suggested in the Ubuntu Podcast Chatter Telegram channel.
