I have the same problem with Nvidia driver 390 and kernel 5.4.0:
Building for architecture x86_64
Building initial module for 5.4.0-14-generic
ERROR (dkms apport): kernel package linux-headers-5.4.0-14-generic is not
supported
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.4.0-14-generic
I can't seem to reproduce any such build failure in Ubuntu 20.04 so
please also update your system:
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
The issue might have already been fixed.
