The motherboard in question is the MSI x470 Gaming Plus Max. The
original BIOS had to be flashed to version 7B79vH4.
On a side note, I ran into the very same issue with an ASUS x470 Prime
Pro. Same remedy: a BIOS flash (I used version 5406).

Thanks for the feedback Jürgen, setting it to invalid then since there
is nothing more to fix in the packages. Other Ubuntu users might hit the
same issue, so if you could add some info which FW you had to update to
get it fixed that might help them.
