I'm having the same issue on an ASUS FX570UD with RTL8822BE, running
Ubuntu 18.04 5.3.0-51-generic.
I have tried all above comments including installing 5.5 kernel (and
also 5.6.7 which is the current latest mainline kernel)

With the new kernel update this issue happens to me. No connection to
wifi. Not possible. I am using a Clevo notebook, which was rebranded by
Tuxedo.

I have the exact same issue. Is there any workaround for this ? im
pretty new to ubuntu and would appreciate if i dont have to do kernel

In the mainline kernel, there are no -extra package.
I also tried to build the packages from v5.4-rc8 source code by myself
at this week, but I found it couldn't work. For the -extra package, do I
need add some parameter for faker

With the new test kernel, it works fine for wireless and ethernet. I
tried to reboot 5 times, all is good.

Hmm, it was too early to celebrate, it seems. On subsequent reboots
5.4-rc8 still does not work.
As a workaround, I have use an usb-tethered phone :(

Bin Li, both rtw88 and r8169 weren't loaded according to the log in #6.
Maybe the -extra package isn't installed?

This issue could also be reproduced on ThinkPad T495, with
5.3.0-23-generic in bionic, I also found the Ethernet card couldn't
work. The r8169 was not loaded.

@kainengfeng: yes, 5.4-rc8 works (at the cost of not building the nvidia
