Yes, updating the user-dirs.dirs did help, after changing the path, the
bug with zsh is solved now. I believe we can close the issue. Thank you,

It sounds like your XDG_DESKTOP_DIR has somehow changed to point to the
home directory. And when that happens zsh will trigger bug 1815550. So
this is a duplicate of bug 1815550.
To find out why the desktop and home directories are mixed though, check
the contents of your:
~/.config/user-dirs.d
So there are two bugs here. The performance issue and the flashing icons
is covered by bug 1815550.
If you would like to keep this bug open then please remove references to
that issue here.
