Hi Daniel, I'm afraid I completely disagree with your recent changes.
This isn't a wishlist bug; it's causing build failures. I want to have
star(1) installed for the times I want star instead of tar, but in doing
so I have ./configure scripts looking for GNU tar use it in preference
to the real

Etienne, I don't see why. star's claim to emulate GNU tar seems false;
hence building Firefox failing above. It isn't really a GNU tar, I
suspect its author just wanted to usurp GNU tar and have configure
scripts use it. If people want star for its benefits, that's fine. But

When building Firefox directly from Mozilla's source, the presence of
this gnutar (i.e. star) causes "make package" to fail: an emtpy tar.bz2
file is created.
