I believe that this issue has been corrected in Ubuntu hardy

I tried opening the provided document using OpenOffice.org on Hardy and
received no useful feedback either. This bug probably needs forwarding
to the Open Office bug tracker.

Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
I think this should be classed as wishlist if anything.
It would be difficult to implement such a thing, as it would require
OO.o to know of every filetype that it can't render.
