When I use the button "Detect the keyboard" and answer to the questions,
it's the good keyboard that is proposed : "Francais (azerty)".

Now, in Linux Mint MATE 19.3 :
- If I choose "English" at the boot screen on the ISO, and "French" as the
locale once the installer loads, I get the "French" keyboard as the default
choice.
- If I choose "French" at the boot screen on the ISO and "Français" as the
locale once the installer loads
In fact, the good option for my french keyboard should be "Français -
Français (azerty)" :, not "Français - Français (variante)".

I can confirm this bug. I'm not sure it should be against ubiquity
though.. although some files do refer to fr-latin9 (i.e. the obsolete
variant), a fix might be needed in console-setup as well.
One more thing.. the default for French shouldn't be fr-latin9 (variante
obsolete - legacy), but it sho
