I have Ubuntu Gutsy on one of my drives, and Ubuntu Hardy on another.
Hardy Heron was actually a fresh install today on my extra 40GB drive.
During boot and shut down on both Hardy and Gutsy, there is no usplash,
just a blank black screen. GDM will start after the computer finishes
loading, it just doesn't show you what the progress of boot up is, just
a black screen.
I have an AMD64 PC with the AMD64 versions of Ubuntu on both drives. I
am using an nVidia Geforce 8600GT video card, which is PCI, with the
"nvidia" driver.
