I'm on ubuntu 18.04 not sure how to check kernel version and I don't
want to mess with it on this computer. I haven't used the card for a
long time and the last time was on windows. Just thought I'd plug it in
and try, unfortunately it seems to fail.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
