The previous comments suggest it's a kernel issue then. Did you try
copying from a command line using "gio copy..." to see if that has the
same problem than nautilus? Could you also add your journalctl log after
triggering the issue?

I went back to 16.04.5 LTS for one of the laptops (kernel 4.15). I was
surprised to get the same disappointing results as with 18.04.1 LTS.
Exactly the same scripts yield a satisfactory performance with an older
version of 16.04 LTS (kernel 4.4)!

I normally use 6 volumes which are mounted by logging in using a script. When
only one volume is mounted, copying via Nautilus over the LAN occurs at
“normal” pace. But when mounting two or more volumes, every copy operation is
getting appalling slow. It affects th
