This systems was running 14.04 before I wiped and reinstalled. Never had
any issue with it.
I just did a "apt-get install linux-generic-hwe-16.04-edge", so I'm
running on 4.8.0 now. It'll take some days to see if the issue comes
returns.

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
