As a note to NAR - please contact me if you need help testing with the
current version of Alpine. I'm happy to help you personally to find out
if we should reopen this bug. We can upgrade just alpine without you
upgrading your whole Ubuntu system.
Or just upgrade to Hardy. (-;

the Debian maintainer of alpine.)
