I am having this problem. The printer is en epson stylus cx3200. I just
upgraded from hardy to karmic, and the problem continues.
It's the same with either the `scribus' (1.3.3) or the `scribus-ng' (1.3.5)

Sorry, I have stopped completely using Scribus quite a long time ago
because of this and many other (usability) problems, and at my new home
I don't have a printer, so I can't test.
