HP nx7400 fails to resume from suspend to RAM
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/16311
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable

After I executed "sync; echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace; /etc/acpi/sleep.sh

instead. The power led remained on instead of blinking as expected. I
switched the system off, then turned back on and captured dmesg.log

Hi John,
Against the newer Hardy Alpha4 kernel, if you could attach your dmesg
after a failed suspend/resume cycle as outlined here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend it would be helpful.
Thanks!

HP nx7400 fails to resume from suspend to RAM

I have installed Hardy Alpha 4, the problem now happens randomly. From 5
suspends, 2 were successull without any additional help, but 3 others
required to hold down a keyboard button (as in Gutsy). It is worth
noting that if I do not press any key, the system will sometimes come
out of suspend of i
John and others,
Does this issue also occur to you randomly or consistently every time
you try to resume from suspend? At least on gutsy it seems to happen
quite randomly on my nx7400. I haven't tested with newer releases but
might try with a live CD once I get my hands on Alpha 4.

Hi John,
Sorry for the delayed response. Thanks for testing and the feedback.
Alpha4 is about to be released, it would be good if you could test once
more with this newer release. If the issue still exists, the following
wiki may help: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend . It

I have tested suspend with Hardy Alpha 3 LiveCD. There are no
improvements, it's actually a little worse: now it won't wake up with or
without pressing any keys on the keyboard.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The Hardy Heron Alpha series was recently released.
Alpha2 and subsequent releases contain an updated version of the kernel.
You can download and try the new Hardy Heron Alpha release from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
I also tried to manually compile the latest kernel (2.6.23.something
with the latest prepatch). Resume then works better (the above-mentioned
keydown fix required only sometimes), but the laptop always hangs on
shutdown.

This seems to be a regression from Feisty. Resuming from suspend worked
fine in that release (assuming a workaround for bug #23497) but fails
randomly (perhaps 1/3 of the time) on Gutsy.
